POSITION SUMMARY:
Brevard Regional Hyperbaric Center (BRHC) is seeking a compassionate and organized Medical Assistant to support clinical operations in our outpatient Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and wound care facility. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in patient care coordination, rooming, documentation, and assisting with medical procedures under the direction of our licensed providers.
This is a patient-facing role requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and room patients for exams, document medical histories, and record vital signs.
- Assist providers during examinations, wound care procedures, and hyperbaric treatments.
- Maintain clean and well-stocked exam and treatment rooms.
- Perform EHR documentation, patient check-ins, and appointment follow-ups.
- Coordinate scheduling of patient treatments and communicate next steps clearly.
- Manage medical supplies and ensure equipment is clean and functional.
- Provide patient education and reinforce care instructions as directed by the provider.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and uphold safety and infection control protocols.
- Collaborate closely with providers, nurses, front desk staff, and billing/coding teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant diploma or certification strongly preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) designation preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting, ideally in wound care or specialty medicine.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) — Athenahealth experience a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or required within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed in a clinical setting.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $20.00
