POSITION SUMMARY:

Curated Vacation Properties is seeking a Hiring Specialist to join our team in Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will have a background in HR, human capital, or people operations, with experience supporting both blue-collar and white-collar staff.

This role involves leading talent acquisition efforts, managing onboarding and offboarding, and overseeing performance management processes. The Hiring Specialist will help shape our work environment by being present in the office 3–4 days a week and building strong relationships across teams.

The Hiring Specialist will track and document employee infractions and performance concerns to support timely decision-making, implement structured annual review processes, and manage systems for compensation benchmarking and promotions. They will audit team scorecards and bonus plans, monitor performance against targets, and flag issues as they arise. This role also includes identifying underperformers, ensuring proper documentation and accountability during performance management, and calling attention to talent gaps, flight risks, or misalignments within the team. Support for restructuring efforts—such as schedule optimization or reshuffling the virtual assistant team—is also part of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the full recruiting pipeline for all roles—approving job descriptions, post listings, screen resumes, conduct first-round interviews.
  • Leverage tools like Better Talent, Indeed, LinkedIn, and your own network to keep our applicant pool fresh and top-tier.
  • Proactively headhunt for key leadership roles (e.g. Director of Operations).
  • Maintain an "evergreen" recruiting strategy—keep our bench warm for high-volume roles (cleaning, guest services, inspectors).
  • Present top applicants weekly to the leadership team and coordinate interview logistics.
  • Design and lead structured 30-/60-/90-day onboarding plans for every new hire.
  • Conduct onboarding check-ins and report back to department heads with insights on strengths, concerns, and enablement gaps.
  • Take ownership of benefits explanation, open enrollment, and new hire paperwork.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for internal team members—handle grievances, questions, and policy guidance.
  • Develop, formalize, implement, and enforce internal policies (e.g. timekeeping, credit card use, bonus eligibility, callout protocols).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–6 years of HR, Human Capital, or People Ops experience, ideally with exposure to both blue-collar and white-collar teams.
  • Proven ability to lead recruiting, policy development, and performance management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment, tact, and ability to handle sensitive personnel issues with discretion.
  • Experience with small to midsize teams (20–100 employees).
  • Highly organized and a clear, concise communicator.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (not required—but evidence of follow-through and critical thinking is a must).
  • Bonus if you've worked in service/hospitality, startups, or operations-heavy environments, particularly in a mixture of blue-, gray-, and white-collar environments/cultures.
