POSITION SUMMARY:

As an Associate Attorney - Estate Planning & Elder Law at McCarthy Law, your unique blend of expertise and empathy will pave the way for incredible success. That means you will be responsible for the entire client engagement process, from initial consultations through to the final implementation of their estate plans. This includes providing expert advice on wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives alongside more complex elder law issues such as Medicaid planning and long-term care arrangements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all aspects of Estate Planning and Elder Law practice areas, including managing workflow and handling probate and estate administration proceedings.
  • Conduct client consultations and provide expert legal advice on estate planning, elder law issues, and healthcare directives tailored to client goals and needs.
  • Perform legal research and draft detailed legal documents, staying current with relevant laws and regulations to ensure high-quality, organized, and timely delivery.
  • Maintain regular communication and build strong relationships with clients, addressing their concerns with knowledge and compassion and ensuring their needs are met with integrity.
  • Cultivate relationships with referral sources and community organizations, participate in networking, business development activities, and public speaking engagements.
  • Utilize specialized Estate Planning software, such as Wealth Counsel and Adapt, to ensure efficient case management and documentation.
  • Track and manage billable hours meticulously to meet all aspects of client and case management effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold an active law license in Rhode Island, with 3+ years of experience in Estate Planning and Elder Law; additional licensure in MA, CT, or FL preferred.
  • Must have established referral sources to hit the ground running
  • Strong understanding of Estate Planning principles, Probate procedures, Elder Law, Medicaid applications, and Asset Protection Planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases successfully
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and public speaking skills, with a capacity to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills, with the ability to empathize and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision required.
  • Highly motivated with a desire to engage in personal development, contribute to firm growth, and lead with empathy and compassion.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Annual Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 based on experience and bonus potential

Bonus: Bonus incentives are based on performance and business development contributions
