Position Summary
We're seeking a dependable, skilled, and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our growing Galveston team. This position is responsible for maintaining vacation rental properties to ensure they remain safe, functional, clean, and guest-ready at all times.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates professionally, and can troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician will perform a wide range of property maintenance and repair tasks, including but not limited to:
General Maintenance
- Perform routine property inspections
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot and repair maintenance issues
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls
- Ensure properties meet Southern Sands quality standards
Plumbing
- Repair leaks, faucets, toilets, disposals, and drains
- Replace plumbing fixtures and components
- Diagnose water pressure and drainage issues
- Maintain hot tubs and pool equipment when needed
HVAC & Appliances
- Change HVAC filters
- Assist with appliance repairs, issues, and diagnosis
- Coordinate major repairs with vendors when necessary
Exterior & Grounds
- Pressure washing and exterior touch-ups
- Minor landscaping and exterior upkeep
Guest & Property Support
- Address guest maintenance concerns professionally
- Assist housekeeping and operations teams when needed
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years maintenance, handyman, construction, or property management experience
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repairs
- Carpentry and drywall experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in varying weather conditions
- Weekend and after-hours availability may occasionally be required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vacation rentals or hospitality maintenance
- Pool or hot tub maintenance experience is a plus
Compensation, Benefits, & Schedule
- Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour
- Guaranteed minimum yearly compensation of $50,000
- Opportunities for overtime and advancement
Location Requirement
- Applicants must be local and live within approximately 30 minutes driving distance of the Galveston Seawall to ensure timely response to maintenance needs and emergency calls.
