POSITION SUMMARY:

The Host serves as the first point of contact for guests, creating a warm and welcoming dining experience from the moment they arrive. This role is responsible for greeting and seating guests efficiently, managing reservations and waitlists, and maintaining an organized flow of service throughout the restaurant. The Hostess works closely with servers and management to ensure excellent customer service, smooth communication, and guest satisfaction. A friendly demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential for success in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Guest Greeting & Seating

  • Warmly greet guests as they arrive and thank them as they leave.
  • Manage seating to ensure even table distribution and efficient service flow.
  • Escort guests to their tables and present menus with a friendly, welcoming attitude.

2. Reservations & Waitlist Management

  • Manage reservations through the restaurant’s booking system or phone calls.
  • Maintain accurate waitlists during busy periods and provide realistic wait times.
  • Communicate effectively with guests while they wait to ensure comfort and satisfaction.

3. Customer Service

  • Create a positive first impression that reflects the restaurant’s hospitality and Mexican dining culture.
  • Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and special requests with professionalism.
  • Coordinate with servers and management to resolve any seating or service issues promptly.

4. Coordination & Communication

  • Communicate table status and guest flow with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff.
  • Work with management to optimize seating during peak hours.
  • Assist with takeout orders, phone calls, and other front-of-house duties as needed.

5. Cleanliness & Organization

  • Keep the host stand, entryway, and front area clean and organized at all times.
  • Ensure menus and promotional materials are clean, updated, and neatly arranged.
  • Help maintain a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the restaurant’s brand and culture.

6. Team Support

  • Support servers, bussers, and management with guest flow and service needs.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings and follow all restaurant policies and standards.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Previous customer service or restaurant experience preferred, but not always required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication and a friendly, professional demeanor.
  • Hospitality: Warm, welcoming attitude with a genuine desire to create a positive guest experience.
  • Organization: Strong multitasking and time-management skills, especially during busy periods.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with servers, bussers, and management to ensure smooth service.
  • Appearance: Neat, clean, and professional presentation consistent with the restaurant’s image.
  • Adaptability: Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of reservation or POS systems (training provided).
  • Reliability: Consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume or authentic Mexican restaurant.
