POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Director of Finance and Client Services at Smedley Law Group, P.C, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the firm's financial management, billing operations, and client service efforts. Your keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to maintain composure under pressure will be essential in ensuring the firm's financial stability and client satisfaction.

In this position, you will be responsible for managing client billing, payment processing, and financial reporting to maintain the firm's historical collection rate and cash flow. You will also serve as a primary point of contact for billing-related inquiries, resolving client concerns with empathy and professionalism. Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will be vital in fostering positive client relationships and ensuring timely, effective communication regarding their accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial Management and Accounting: Oversee client billing, payment processing, and financial reporting to maintain the firm's historical collection rate as well as manage cash flow.
  • Client Services: Serve as a point of contact for billing-related inquiries, resolve client concerns with empathy, and ensure timely communication regarding their accounts.
  • Billing Operations: Run pre-bills, revise drafts, and finalize invoices within established timeframes. Address billing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Payment Oversight: Process payments, manage refunds, and ensure compliance with firm protocols.
  • New Client Onboarding: Conduct introductory calls, educate clients on firm policies, and ensure all account details are accurately recorded.
  • Performance Metrics: Consistently meet key performance indicators (KPIs) to support the firm's financial and operational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with trust accounting and cash flow management is highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the financial management of business functions, client billing, payment processing, and financial reporting
  • Strong client services skills with the ability to respond to client questions and de-escalate concerns effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks and Timeslips) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • A former role in a law firm or the legal services environment is a plus!
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
