POSITION SUMMARY:
Red Cottage is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead our field operations in Stowe, VT. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving problems in real-time, building strong relationships with local partners, and taking ownership of day-to-day execution. You'll serve as the boots-on-the-ground leader ensuring our vacation rental properties are guest-ready, operationally sound, and consistently maintained to the highest standards. From managing cleaning and maintenance teams to conducting property inspections and responding to urgent needs, you'll be the key driver of operational excellence in the market - connecting the dots between remote coordination and flawless on-site delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Operations Leadership & Local Team Management
- Lead, recruit, train, and support Stowe-based contracted cleaning partners and maintenance providers to ensure consistent service standards and reliable coverage.
- Serve as the primary local leader for day-to-day field operations, arrivals, departures, and turnovers.
- Set expectations, provide coaching and performance feedback, and ensure vendors are aligned with Red Cottage quality, safety, and guest-readiness standards.
- Be the on-call local escalation point for incidents or issues that require management presence or in-person support.
- Own the execution of Red Cottage's inspection program, including routine, post-clean, pre-arrival, and seasonal inspections.
- Identify maintenance needs, operational risks, and quality gaps; ensuring inspection findings translate into timely corrective action.
- Oversee operational readiness for guest arrivals and property turnovers, ensuring homes are clean, stocked, functional, and presentation-ready.
- Coordinate access, schedules, and last-mile logistics with cleaning and maintenance teams.
- Support urgent, last-minute guest or property issues requiring on-site troubleshooting or intervention.
- Support onboarding efforts by serving as the local field presence for new homes
- Act as a trusted local point of contact for homeowners as needed to support service delivery, maintenance coordination, and operational clarity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience in hospitality, vacation rentals, property management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort working across multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and client-facing professionalism.
- Hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently in the field and collaborating with remote teams.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with short-term rental operations, inspections, or onboarding workflows is a plus.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Annual Salary: $50,000 - $55,000
